Istanbul Street Photography Festival!

Istanbul Street Photography Festival (ISPF) is a well-attended event that represents street photography with different approaches and brings street photographers together. The common goal is to share through street photography using the advanced possibilities of photography and to encourage participants to participate in an event they will enjoy.


The festival will be held free of charge in 2020.

Single Category winner prize: Sony WH-1000XM4 on-ear wireless headphones

Photo Series Category winner prize: Sony DSC-RX100M5 Camera

Istanbul Category winner prize: Sony WF-1000XM3 In-ear True Wireless wireless headphones

How does it work?

1 – Upload Photos

After determining the category you want to participate in, fill out the form online.

Deadline: 13 December 2020

2 – The Jury Chooses

The festival jury evaluates the photos submitted to them and determines the winners for 3 categories.

3 – Winners Announced

The winning photos will be announced online on December 19, 2020 due to the pandemic and the awards will be received after.

Participation Rules

  • All submitted images must fall under the category of street photography.
  • There is no restriction as to when the submitted image was created
    although more recent work is preferred.
  • Any location within the public realm, worldwide, is acceptable: indoors and outdoors
    (i.e. streets, beach, train, park, restaurants, dirt road, etc.)
  • There are no restrictions on the type / brand of camera used.
    Photos taken with mobile phones should only be shared on Instagram for the Istanbul category.
  • Photos may be either black/white or color.
  • Photographs that previously received awards can also participate.
  • Maximum 5 single photos and up to 5 photo series can be uploaded.
  • The jury may request the original of the winning photo.
  • Images must be .jpg/jpeg files, no bigger than 5mb.
  • Watermarked and/or signed images will not be accepted.
  • Open to all participants from around the world 18 years or older.

Participation Categories

Participation with a Single Photo

A person can participate in the festival with a maximum of 5 single photographs. Photos can be from anywhere in the world.

Participation with Photo Series

A person can participate in the festival with 5-10 photos in series. Photos can be from all over the world. (Min. 5 photo)

Participation with Istanbul Photos

One person can participate with a maximum of 5 Istanbul photos. Only photos taken in Istanbul should be submitted.

How many photos can a person send at most?

Due to the fact that the 2020 event is free;
– Single Photo category: maximum five,
– Photo Series category: up to five photo series (series are between 5-10 photos),
– Istanbul Photos category: maximum five photos on Instagram.

Can I participate with the photos I took with my mobile phone?

Only photos taken with a camera are considered valid in Single and Photo Series categories. You could share the photos taken in Istanbul with your mobile phone in the Istanbul category on your public Instagram profile with the hashtag “#istanbulstreet20“.

How does the jury choose?

Juries cannot see the names of the participants, they see the photographs with the participant’s registration numbers. Each jury first determines its own winners. Subsequently, the photos suggested by each jury member for the relevant category are collected in public folders and evaluated collectively. Finally, winner photos for each category are determined.

Will the photos be exhibited?

An exhibition will be held for the finalists among the photographs submitted for the Istanbul Street Photography Festival. (It can also be organized as a virtual exhibition due to COVID-19.) With the exhibition to be shown at the Haliç Congress Center, it is aimed to show the photographs of the participants. If sponsors are found, exhibition photos can be turned into a book.

When is the Award Ceremony?

The award ceremony will be held at Halic Congress Center Sadabat Hall on Sunday, December 20, 2020, where the finalists and the winners for the 3 categories will be announced.

In the event that will start at 13:00; There are talks, panels, photo shows, exhibitions, stand activities.


Our organization does not have a photograph of any photographer. The copyrights of the photos belong to their owners. Photographs can only be used for promotional activities. Finalist photos are published on our website and social networks with the name of the photographer.

Istanbul Street Photography Festival is an international non-profit event that exhibits street photography in Istanbul.


The aim of the festival; building a community and networking, learning and developing through exhibitions, workshops, conferences, competitions and related events.


ISPF is an Istanbul-based FOTON Association project whose goal is to enrich urban projects with cultural projects.
