2021 Istanbul Street Photography Festival!

Istanbul Street Photography Festival (ISPF) is a well-attended event that represents street photography with different approaches and brings street photographers together. The common goal is to share through street photography using the advanced possibilities of photography and to encourage participants to participate in an event they will enjoy.

How does it work?

1 – Upload Photos

After determining the category you want to participate in, fill out the form online.

Deadline: November 20, 2021

2 – The Jury Chooses

The festival jury evaluates the photos submitted to them and determines the winners for 4 categories and finalists.

3 – Winners Announced

The winning photos will be announced online on December 5, 2021 due to the pandemic and the awards will be received after.

Participation Rules

  • All submitted images must fall under the category of street photography.
  • Only photographs taken within the last 3 years are accepted.
  • Only photographs taken during the pandemic period are accepted in the Re Invent category.
  • Any location within the public realm, worldwide, is acceptable: indoors and outdoors
    (i.e. streets, beach, train, park, restaurants, dirt road, etc.)
  • There are no restrictions on the type / brand of camera used.
    Photos taken with a phone are also accepted.
  • Photos may be either black/white or color.
  • Photographs that previously received awards can also participate.
  • Maximum 5 Istanbul and pandemic photos can be uploaded.
  • The jury may request the original of the winning photo.
  • Images must be .jpg/jpeg files, no bigger than 5mb.
  • Watermarked and/or signed images will not be accepted.
  • Open to all participants from around the world 18 years or older.

Regarding the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, cities have now new territorial patterns, urbanization and cartographies affecting and changing how we approach in public and private spaces. We invite you to join the competition by sending the photographs related with this topic and taken only during the pandemic.

How many photos can a person send at most?

In the 2021 event, we have two paid and two free categories.

 

There is no photo submission limit in the Single and Series (series 5-10 photos) categories. Various discounts are applied for multiple photo submissions.

 

You can participate with a maximum of 5 photos in the Istanbul and Re Invent (pandemic photos) categories, which are free of charge.

Can I participate with the photos I took with my mobile phone?

Yes, it is possible to participate in the festival with any brand / model camera and smart mobile phone.

Is your payment system secure?

Your payments are provided securely with the infrastructure of iyzico, Turkey’s largest fintech brand, where you can make transactions with credit cards from anywhere in the world.

Unfortunately, Paypal has not been able to provide services in Turkey since June 6, 2016.

How does the jury choose?

Juries cannot see the names of the participants, they see the photographs with the participant’s registration numbers. Each jury first determines its own winners.

 

Subsequently, the photos suggested by each jury member for the relevant category are collected in public folders and evaluated collectively.

 

Finally, winner photos for each category and finalists are determined.

Will the photos be exhibited?

An exhibition will be held for the finalists among the photographs submitted for the Istanbul Street Photography Festival. (It can also be organized as a virtual exhibition due to COVID-19.) With the exhibition to be shown at the Haliç Congress Center, it is aimed to show the photographs of the participants. If sponsors are found, exhibition photos can be turned into a book.

When is the Award Ceremony?

The award ceremony will be held at Halic Congress Center Sadabat Hall on Sunday, December 5, 2021, where the finalists and the winners for the 3 categories will be announced.

In the event that will start at 13:00; There are talks, panels, photo shows, exhibitions, stand activities.

Copyright?

Our organization does not have a photograph of any photographer. The copyrights of the photos belong to their owners. Photographs can only be used for promotional activities. Finalist photos are published on our website and social networks with the name of the photographer.

Istanbul Street Photography Festival is an international non-profit event that exhibits street photography in Istanbul.

 

ISPF is an Istanbul-based FOTON Association project whose goal is to enrich urban projects with cultural projects.
